The Attorney General has asked the NSW Law Reform Commission to review and report on the desirability of making changes to the Guardianship Act 1987 (NSW). As currently drafted, the Act allows a formal decision-maker to be appointed to make personal, financial and medical decisions for someone who is incapable of making those decisions because of a disability.
On 28 February 2017 we released Question Papers 4, 5 and 6 on safeguards and procedures, medical and dental treatment and restrictive practices, and remaining issues. We seek your views on the questions raised in each paper. Submission close on Friday 12 May 2017.
