The Attorney General has asked the NSW Law Reform Commission to review and report on the desirability of making changes to the Guardianship Act 1987 (NSW). As currently drafted, the Act allows a formal decision-maker to be appointed to make personal, financial and medical decisions for someone who is incapable of making those decisions because of a disability.​​​

Project update

​​The Commission is no longer seeking preliminary submissions for the Guardianship Review. The next stage of the review process will see the release of a series of consultation papers that address specific issues relating to Guardianship.The consultation papers will provide further opportunities for all stakeholders to share with us your ideas, experiences, and opinions. The consultation papers will be published on our website in due course.    ​
